Love Through the Lens: A Wedding Photographer’s Guide to Making It Last

After years of standing behind the camera, capturing everything from teary-eyed vows to wild dance floor shenanigans, I’ve learned a thing or two about love. Not the fairy-tale, slow-motion-running-through-a-meadow kind, but the real, raw, and sometimes hilarious journey of making a relationship last.

Here’s the truth: love isn’t just found in the perfectly posed portraits. It’s in the messy in-betweens—the knowing glances across a crowded room, the whispered jokes during the ceremony, the way one partner always carries snacks for the other (this might be the most important love language, by the way).

A great marriage is like a great photograph: it’s about light, perspective, and a little bit of magic.

Light – Even in tough times, find the light. The best photos (and relationships) aren’t about avoiding the shadows; they’re about knowing where to place the focus.

Perspective – No couple is perfect. Some days, you’ll feel like the perfect shot is out of reach. Shift your angle, appreciate the little things, and remember why you picked each other in the first place.

Magic – It’s not in grand gestures but in the everyday moments. The morning coffees, the uncontrollable laughter, the way they dance (terribly, yet adorably) in the kitchen. That’s the stuff worth capturing, both in a frame and in your heart.

So, to all the couples out there—whether you're newly engaged, celebrating your 50th anniversary, or still deciding where to eat for dinner—cherish the candid moments. The posed ones are nice, but the real beauty is in the unplanned, imperfect, and wonderfully chaotic snapshots of love.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a dance floor to document and a couple to remind that no one will remember if the cake was a little lopsided—but they will remember the joy, the laughter, and the love.

Keep capturing those moments,

Your Wedding Photographer
